You Can Choose NOT To Be Offended

It’s that simple.

Controlling your thoughts is the first step to controlling your emotions.

If you choose to take an insult personally, something inside you is agreeing with the insulter.

You are agreeing on some level to be insulted, to agree with the insult.

By accepting the perceived personal attack in defensive mode, you’ve just given away your power. Your power to choose the direction of your life and the tone of the rest of your day.

What if you took something personally and it was a simple verbal misstep by an innocent person, with no intention of disparaging you?

Then you’ve gone into a crap-infested parallel universe of your own making. It only exists in your head.

Or worse, what if they intended to offend you?

By choosing to take it personally, you’ve given them your power. Your power to control…

Since it was an independent film, there was no studio involved, which means there was no entity to complain to. We can boycott his films, perhaps, but I don't know how else he can be held accountable.
