Hi Rob. Nice read. I so much enjoyed this tribute to Tupac’s mother.
I am not familiar with the rap scene as it is so full of violence and sadness, it hurts to learn about it.
However, for years I’ve been fascinated with Tupac’s mom, Afeni Shakur, and her story. I knew she was a Black Panther, a writer, and probably framed for the charges for which she was found innocent.
Her public statements and appearances after her son’s horrifying death were so filled with love. I could hardly believe she was able to maintain, much less express such love in the midst of that level of grief. What a gift it must have been to know her.
It seems Tupac’s prolific creativity and physical beauty sprung directly from her, genetically and otherwise.
