Rocco, great article and important perspective. When I was a single Mom, making enough money to buy a home, all of the advice I read or received personally, was BUY A HOME. Three separate times over 18 years, I qualified for an affordable mortgage and looked at homes with the intent to buy. Each time, I realized I would have to swap spending time with my daughter to paint or clean gutters or in some capacity maintain the home “I owned”. I loathe that type of activity. I knew the home would own me and I’d be miserable. I was right and I’m glad I didn’t purchase a home. Instead, I spent evenings and weekends with my daughter, an infinity more important investment.
